Finger Print Recognition System: Learn about the least developed Fingerprint Biometric Recognition System, based upon the correspondence between the Euclidean Distance and Gabor Filter.
Fingerprint Identification is a widely used Biometric Identification mechanism used in Computer Science as a means of identification and access control. Till date, various techniques have been proposed to bring up a gratifying solution for Fingerprint Identification. The widely used Minutiae-based representation didn’t make use of a powerful component of the rich discriminatory information available in the fingerprints. And that is Local ridge structures. The proposed technique uses a filter-based algorithm. A bank of Gabor filters is utilized to capture both local and global details of a fingerprint and store it in the form of compact fixed length Finger Code. The Biometric Fingerprint Identification System works on the basis of the Euclidean distance (straight-line/ordinary distance) between the two corresponding Finger Codes. Hence, this technique is extremely fast and more accurate than the Minutiae-based representation. The accuracy of the Fingerprint Identification System is estimated to be 98.22%.
